Seattle Post-Intelligencer
Date1946
CaptionIn the spring of 1942, workers in Seattle's University District cleared most of a block between Brooklyn Avenue and 12th Avenue NE just north of 45th Street in order to build a three-deck parking garage. Workers moved a large apartment house and several other buildings from the site. Kunkel House Movers estimated that it would take two weeks to slide the 300-ton apartment house on six-inch wooden rollers to its new location several blocks away.
