| Caption | Born in Norway in 1873, Yngvar Sonnichsen received a degree in civil engineering before beginning to seriously study art. He emigrated to New Brunswick in 1904, later moving on to Vancouver, B.C., before settling in Seattle in 1908. In addition to painting portraits and murals (including some for the Sons of Norway Lodge), he also worked in an orchard and painted houses to support himself. He died in Seattle in 1938. |
