| Date | ca. 1908 |
| Caption | During the early 1900s, the school population of Ballard grew rapidly and many buildings were placed into temporary service as classrooms. A few small portable buildings known as Bay View School transformed into the substantial brick building shown in this photo. Named Webster shortly after it opened in 1908, the school had a steady enrollment of between 400 and 500 students for many years, until it closed in 1979. Since 1980 it has been the home of the Nordic Heritage Museum, one of the region's most renowned ethnic cultural institutions. |
