| Title | North Bend before widening of Sunset Highway, before 1942 |
| Photographer | Staff Photographer Seattle Post-Intelligencer |
| Date | ca. 1940 |
| Caption | The opening of Lake Washington's first floating bridge in 1940 greatly increased the number of cars traveling between eastern and western Washington on the Sunset Highway. The narrow main street of North Bend, near Snoqualmie Pass, remained a bottleneck, however. State officials threatened to reroute the highway around North Bend if the town did not widen the street. This photo shows North Bend before the widening of the Sunset Highway. |
