| Caption | President Franklin Roosevelt, who had polio, established the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis in 1938. The organization's January March of Dimes campaign raised money to care for people with polio and find a cure for the crippling disease. Each year, many of Seattle's clubs and organizations joined in the national fund raising effort. This 1945 photo shows a woman collecting for the March of Dimes at her workplace. |
