CaptionEldred Martin Lewis was born in Barbados in 1887 and took a teacher training course there. He later moved to Panama, where he taught for the U.S. government in schools in the Canal Zone. He then came to the United States, where he attended Temple University and Lincoln University. He was ordained by the Presbytery of Seattle and served as minister of Grace Presbyterian Church from 1922 to 1929. He later led churches in New Jersey and New York. He and his wife Juanita had one daughter, Eleanor. He died on August 21, 1977.
