| Caption | Arminta Spears was born in 1868 in Missouri. In 1886 she married Baptist minister Samuel Wilson in Canada. Their only child, Manima, was born in 1886. They lived in Everett, Spokane, and Seattle, finally moving to Chicago in 1929. Arminta was very active in groups affiliated with the National Federation of Colored Women's Clubs. She died in Chicago in 1946. Paul Davis, Manima's son, was born in Spokane in 1917 and died in 1950.
Manima's family lived in Winnipeg for a time; this photo appears to have been taken during a trip to visit them. |
