Handwritten on Verso: Canton, China May 26, 1913. This opium smoking is now prohibited by the Chinese Gov't and there are severe penalties for offenders. Last week some were arrested here - on the British concession - and turned over to the authorities for punishment. I saw the long procession of prisoners and policemen as the Police Station is next door to the hotel where I am staying. Many changes here recently...
