| Historical Background | The W.T. Preston was a steam-powered, sternwheel-propelled snagboat built in 1915 at the Winslow Shipyard, and originally christened Swinomish. She was used for snagging and debris clearance in the government ship canal. In 1980 she was still working to lift logs and other debris off the navigable waters of Puget Sound. |
