| Binding | This is a historically significant binding that should be handled as little as possible. Contemporary full leather binding with elaborate hand-tooled gilt pattern, sewn on 3 cords. Gold-tooled spine has former owner's initials WK midspine. Headband in 2 colors of silk. Nineteenth-century marbled pastedowns, endsheets lacking. All edges trimmed, gilt, and gauffered. Evidence of original silk ties. Binder as yet unknown. |
