General NotesThis is a plate from the work "Darstellung un Beschreibung sämmtlicher...". It illustrates the plant "acacia seyal delile", a native to Africa.

Carl Otto Berg began studying botany in 1831, going on for more serious study beginning in 1845. He served on the faculty of Berlin University as a lecturer in pharmaceutical botony and pharmacognosy from 1848 until his death in 1866.

This is leaf number 50 from the modern collection entitled: Herbals of five centuries; 50 original leaves from German, French, Dutch, English, Italian, and Swiss herbals; with an introduction and bibliography by Claus Nissen. Zurich: L'Art Ancien, Olten, Weiss-Hesse [etc.], 1958.
