General NotesThis is a plate from "Introductio generalis in rem herbariam" by August Quiring Rivinus. It illustrates the plant "Coriandrum sylvestre" (coriander).

The Introductio was, unfortunately, organized in a rather artificial botanical system. Consequently it was never successful. The artists for this work are unknown.

This is leaf number 39 taken from the modern collection entitled: Herbals of five centuries; 50 original leaves from German, French, Dutch, English, Italian, and Swiss herbals; with an introduction and bibliography by Claus Nissen. Zurich: L'Art Ancien, Olten, Weiss-Hesse [etc.], 1958
