This is page number 153 taken from the work entitled "Kreutterbuch von allem Erdtgewächs...".
This is an adaptation by Eucharius Rösslin of the 1532 work "Contrafayt Kreüterbuch..." written by Otto Brunfels and published by Hans Schott. The 132 woodcuts were copied from the 1532 work and Schott successfuly sued Egenolph for control of the blocks. These were used in 1534 to publish a quarto edition of the original work by Brunfels. This is possibly rather from the work entitled "Kreutterbuch :Von aller Kreutter, Gethier, Gesteyne unnd Metal, Natur, Nutz und Gebrauch. Distillier Zeug und Bericht, allerhandt kostbarliche Wasser zubrennen, halten unnd gebrauchen" published in 1538 by Christian Engenolph.
This is leaf number 16 from the modern work entitled: Herbals of five centuries; 50 original leaves from German, French, Dutch, English, Italian, and Swiss herbals; with an introduction and bibliography by Claus Nissen. Zurich: L'Art Ancien, Olten, Weiss-Hesse [etc.], 1958. |
