This plate is taken from Garten der gesuntheit (printed 1489), the second edition of a 1486 reprint by Johann Gruninger of the 1485 original by Peter Schoffer.

This is Gruninger's second edition with all illustrations having been re-cut. These same blocks were used later to print Hieronymus Brunschwig's Book of Distillation.

This is leaf no. 8 taken from the modern collection entitled: Herbals of five centuries; 50 original leaves from German, French, Dutch, English, Italian, and Swiss herbals; with an introduction and bibliography by Claus Nissen. Zurich: L'Art Ancien, Olten, Weiss-Hesse [etc.], 1958.
