Once covered with a dense stand of trees, this cleared flat is seen awaiting the lake water that will soon cover it as the Columbia river rises behind Grand Coulee dam. This view is looking south toward Daisy from a point a half mile south of the town of Rice. The old river highway #22 is seen in the foreground. The new highway is above the clearing line at the extreme left.
