NotesCaption included with image: "Rising backwater of the Columbia river behind Grand Coulee Dam is seen entering Oropothem creek. View looking north and upriver. The Gerome ferry, seen moored in the creek's outlet, will continue in service as rising backwater covers the site of 21-month-old Camp Gerome where some 500 WPA workers were housed during the clearing operations in this area. Most of the camp buildings have been dismanteled and moved further north to increase the operations at Camp Kettle near Kettle Falls on the upper Columbia and Kettle rivers."
