G. A. R. Veteran Taken By Death [photo] Horace J. Bennett, eighty-seven, veteran of the Civil War and prominent in G. A. R. circles, died yesterday morning at his home, 1150 North Eighty-third Street.
Before coming to Seattle ten years ago Bennett was quartermaster at the State Soldiers Home of Iowa. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Syrena E. Bennett; a daughter, Mrs. A. W. Kingsley, and a son, L. P. Bennett, all of Seattle. Bennett was past commander of Stevens Post No. 1, G. A. R., and a member of Marshall Lodge No. 108, F. and A. M., of Marshalltown, Ia.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, at the Butterworth Mortuary, the Rev. M. A. Matthews officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. |
