TitleWedding procession on Red Square in front of the State Universal Department Store (GUM)
NotesGUM, formerly known as the Upper Trading Arcade was built by Aleksandr Pomerantsev in 1895. The Trading Arcade was nationalized and renamed State Universal Store (GUM) after the 1917 revolution. Under the Soviet regime there was a large contrast between the ornate design of the building and its conspicuous lack of goods. Today the elegant architecture blends nicely with overpriced stylish cafes and shops selling mostly Western luxury articles.
