Bell tower in the Rizopolozhenskiy Monastery in Suzdal
Bell tower in the Rizopolozhenskiy Monastery in Suzdal
TitleBell tower in the Rizopolozhenskiy Monastery in Suzdal
NotesFounded in 1207, the Rizopolozhenskii Monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in Russia. A huge, 72 meter-long bell tower is attached to the monastery walls. Built in the eighteenth century in a style referred to as "provincial classicism, " the bell tower stands in sharp contrast to the more ancient architecture of the monastery.
