DescriptionA notched end-blown bamboo flute that is played vertically. This xiao has five finger-holes on the top and one on the back (there are also two holes side by side about 15 cm from the bottom, they do not appear to be fingerholes--perhaps for hanging the instrument).
The nodes of bamboo are sanded down. The lower end is encircled by a small brass ring above which is a ring of black paint. This blonde-light brown xiao has a long 40 cm crack running up from the bottom of the instrument, some writing (chinese) just down from the mouthpiece and a "G" painted beside the third finger hole.
Dimensionslength: 26 1/4" or 66.8 cm
diameter: 1" or 2.5 cm
fingerhole span (top fingerholes only): 6 7/8" or 17.5 cm
ConditionPoor; 40 cm. crack starting at stem (making instrument unplayable).
