DescriptionUnidentified African (Nigerian?) drum. This instrument has relatively straight sides with a smooth golden brown lacquered finish. White nylon lacing is thread through a circle of holes which are cut into the lower portion of the drum. The lacing is attached to a wooden hoop that secures the head of the drum and rests on another skin-covered hoop. The outer hoop is held together with wire. Seven short pieces of thin wood rod are intertwined with the lacing and sit horizontally around the drum.
The provenance of this drum is unknown.
