| Title | Vintage 19th c. marbled paper, Zebra with Shell pattern |
| Artist | Unknown |
| Date | 19th century |
| Descriptive Notes | Wolfe and Miura: Zebra with Shell
This pattern is created by completing all but the final step of a Zebra marble. Like a regular Zebra you would then choose one or more colors to drop onto the bath, however in this particular combination pattern this color would be mixed with oil. As with all Shell patterns the addition of oil would cause the characteristic white outline to appear and the pigment to become darker towards the center of the drop.
The primary colors for this example are blue, red, black and yellow.
