| Title | Vintage 18th c. marbled paper, Shell on Romantic with Turkish veins pattern |
| Artist | Unknown |
| Date | 18th century |
| Descriptive Notes | Wolfe: Shell on Romantic (sometimes he refers to it as Broken) with Turkish veins pattern Miura: Shell on Gravel with Turkish veins marble.
This pattern is created by first completing a Turkish base. Then the Romantic aspect would be accomplished by dropping ink(s) onto the bath which have followed the required two-step process of mixing caustic elements to marbling inks. These Romantic drops would cause the Turkish spots to constrict and become veins. Finally, ink mixed with oil in the Shell manner would be sprinkled onto the bath.
The primary colors for this example are black, pink, yellow and green.
