|Title||Vintage 19th c. paste paper, pulled |
|Date||19th century |
|Descriptive Notes||Loring: pulled paste|
This paste paper is mostly likely created by covering a piece of paper with a colored paste. Then another piece of paper would be laid down on top of it and they would be pressed together. As the papers are being pulled apart from one another branching veins appear, characteristic of this type of paste paper.
The primary color for this sample is dark brown.
|Collection Notes||This sample is scanned from a book cover.|
The book is half bound in vellum with paste paper inlaid. The text block is dated 1761 but the binding is perhaps somewhat later.
