Historically
,
variations
of
daubed
papers
reached
their
height
of
popularity
for
book
decoration
in
Spain
and
America
between
the
middle
of the
18th
and
19th
centuries.
This
pattern
is
created
when
colored
paste
has been
applied
to a
piece
of
sponge
and then
repeatedly
daubed
onto a
clean
piece
of
paper.
In this
case
something
small
and
rounded
(not
a
piece
of
sponge)
was
used
,
creating
the
somewhat
repetatively
shaped
pattern.
The
primary
color
for this
buff
colored
paper
sample
is
medium
brown.
