| Title | Vintage 19th c. marbled paper, Spanish moiré on Turkish pattern |
| Artist | Unknown |
| Date | 19th century |
| Descriptive Notes | Wolfe and Miura: Spanish moiré on Turkish
This pattern is a variation of a (typical) Turkish where the addition of the Spanish effect alters the overall look of the Turkish element.
The pattern is created by first making an Turkish pattern. Then a paper which has been folded in half diagonally and vertically (or horizontally and vertically) is laid onto the bath, moving slightly from side to side to create the curvilinear, gradations typical of this pattern.
The primary color for this example is red.

| Collection Notes | The flat sample from which this photo was scanned is a salvaged endsheet. There is no record of the original item from which these endsheets were taken. Information regarding creation dates has therefore been estimated (using Wolfe), typically by century.
