TitleVintage 19th c. marbled paper, Turkish on Shell pattern
ArtistUnknown
Date19th century
Descriptive NotesWolfe and Miura: Turkish on French Shell

This pattern is created by first completing a Shell pattern. Then, in the normal way of creating a Turkish pattern color(s) is sprinkled over the top of this, causing the Shell pattern to become the veins.

The primary colors for this example are brown and blue.

Collection NotesThe flat sample from which this photo was scanned is a salvaged endsheet. There is no record of the original item from which these endsheets were taken. Information regarding creation dates has therefore been estimated (using Wolfe), typically by century.
