| Notes | Test Baker, 21 kiloton yield, was the second nuclear explosion of Operation Crossroads. The bomb was suspended 90 feet underneath LSM 60 to create an underwater explosion. Detonated at 8:35 A.M. on July 25, 1946. This image was taken from Bikini Island by an automatic camera about 2 1/2 miles away from the blast.
Lauren R. Donaldson was in the Marshall Islands aboard the USS HAVEN as a radiation monitor on the Radioactivity Group during Operation Crossroads. |
