Caption with image: Some of the abandoned roads on Engebi Island were still passable to the jeep. Richard Billiings was riding on the bumper as the vehicle bounced along the western part of the island. Messerschmidia trees bordered the road and grasses and vines had begun to cover even the hard-packed roadbed. 9265-11A.
