Caption in scrapbook: The relics of Crossroads The Crossroads explosions were filmed by automatic cameras slung in tall steel towers placed on Enyu, Bikini and Amen Islands and at one or two other spots about the lagoon. This tower stands at the mid-point on Bikini Island, its camera platform at least 150 feet above the ground. Lowman had tried an ascension, with camera, in 1948. Wiser in 1949, he did his work nearer the ground -- except for one frantic flight about the lagoon in the Navy's PBY aircraft.
