| Photographer | Unknown |
| Date | 1949 |
| Notes | Images documenting the 1949 Bikini-Eniwetok Resurvey Project.
Eniwetok is now known as Enewetak Caption in scrapbook: The simple home of a friendly people The native outriggers are models of expert Marshallese workmanship, but they represent, even in remote Likiep, the vestiges of older days. The 70-foot schooner in the harbor (left) is one evidence of change. And the picturesque thatched buildings on the beach (below) housed boat building activities sponsored by the US Navy, which now administers the former Japanese mandated islands (by means of its Trust Territories of the Pacific) and which seeks to encourage industries which might stabilize the shaken native copra economy. But if Likiep had problems, it also had, in abundance, the simple friendliness of a wonderfully wise people.
