Caption in scrapbook: The strange plants of Eniwetok
This morning glory has tumorous growths near the base of the plant. Mosaic leaves are indicated by the arrows. The grass shown here is commonly know as the "Sand Burr" (Cenchrus echinatus). Operations on this island were somewhat complicated in that the members found it necessary to beseat themselves at fairly regular intervals and remove the burrs from socks and skin.
