Caption in scrapbook: The strange plants of Eniwetok [now known as Enewetak]
A very abnormal leguminous plant, Ipomoea grandiflora, commonly called morning glory, on Engebi [now know as Enjebi] Island. At the base and to the right, one large leaf approaches the normal leaf shape. The small leaf to its left, however, is distinctly abnormal in that it is not bilaterally symmetrical and the vein system is aberrant. The main stalk of the plant is made up almost entirely of tumorous growth. A normal plant of this species is shown on the next page [p.59].
