Handwritten on verso: 7000 miners gathered from the Klondyke creeks in the streets of Dawson to listen to judge [illeg.] read from a tattered copy of the Seattle P.I. the account of the story of the Naval victory at Santiago. These 7000 were those who could not jam into the hall which the owner (Pantages?) of the paper had just hired for his first reading earning him $500.
