NotesUpper left pattern: Evening gown in black velvet with a wide scooped neckline worn off the shoulder, a fitted bodice that ends in a point at the center, and a full gathered skirt. Wide hemline trimmed with lace, and neckline trimmed with lace, bows, and flowers. Skirt has a row of pink ruching, and gown is finished with a train of pink camellias that start at the waist and trail down the center of the skirt.

Upper right pattern: Empire-style gown in yellow satin with a slight heart-shaped neckline and small train. Short sleeves and train trimmed with white ermine. Accessorized with an Oriental-style wrap, mesh gloves, and a black turban trimmed with a yellow plume of feathers.

Lower left pattern: Wide, harem-style satin pants decorated with a geometric pattern. Worn with a black tube top covered by an one-shoulder wrap in yellow gauze. Accessorized with a black and yellow turban-style hat trimmed with a flowing piece of yellow gauze.

Lower center pattern: Split overskirt in starched black tulle worn over a shorter, fitted underskirt in white. Worn with a short, midriff-baring, embroidered jacket, and finished with an embroidered belt that knots at the waist with the long ends hanging down the front of the skirt opening. Accessorized with a black snood trimmed in yellow.

Lower right pattern: Dress in black silk with a fitted bodice, high neck collar, narrow sleeves, large bustle, and train. Worn over a brocade underskirt decorated with a floral motif. Accessorized with a parasol, and a black cloche hat with a narrow brim turned up at the back and trimmed with a pink plume of feathers.
