NotesPattern No. 4696: Back panel of shirtwaist is slashed from the waistline to the bottom edge and trimmed with buttons. Front sections of shirtwaist are cut long and slashed for pockets at each side; pocket openings are finished with embroidered arrows. Belts cross in the center front of the shirtwaist and fasten with a buckle at the center back. Waistcoat with a rolling collar in contrasting material is worn over a vestee. Sleeves are "darted from the elbow to the wrist and trimmed with buttons." Skirt is gathered to the waistline, and "trimmed at the lower edge with two applied trimming folds." Accessorized with a deep-crowned picture hat trimmed with a narrow ribbon.

Pattern No. 4692: Shirtwaist fastens at the left side front with buttons. "Front of the shirtwaist is darted and finished with an embroidered arrow." Sleeves are darted from the wrist to the elbow. Skirt has a lapped seam at the left side that is trimmed with buttons and "left open to permit greater freedom in walking." Sash hangs down the left side of the skirt and is finished with fringe. Girdle is attached at the high waistline and is finished with a bow. Accessorized with a turban-like hat.
