Contextual NotesThe Mason County Logging Company was incorporated on August 2, 1892 by Mark Draham and the Bordeaux brothers. They operated camps along the Washington Southern Railway line and near Isabella Lake, on the Shelton Southwestern Railway line. Later the base of operations moved to the Black Hills area southwest of Olympia, with a camp at Shelton. By 1924, Mason County Logging Company was headquartered at Bordeaux. The company closed ca. 1941.

Bordeaux was a community on Mima Creek and Mima Prairie a dozen miles southwest of Olympia in southwest Thurston County. Once a logging and sawmill town, it suffered from the depletion of local timber resources and now is a scattered settlement. In 1900, it was named for Tom Bordeaux, manager of Mumby Lumber & Shingle Company. A post office was established in 1903 and was closed on February of 1942.
