| Contextual Notes | The Consolidated Timber Company of Glenwood, Oregon was formed in direct response to the Tillamook Burn of 1933, a large forest fire that burned around 240,000 acres of mostly virgin Douglas fir forest. While the timber was charred, it was still salvageable. The company was organized in 1934 by the Blodgett Company, the Crossett Western Company, and Henry F. Chaney, and was a consolidation of several existing large logging companies that worked together to harvest the timber before it rotted. During World War II, the Consolidated Timber Company was recognized by the Army and Navy for its contributions to the war effort.
