| Contextual Notes | Bridal Veil was founded sometime in the 1880s and is located approximately 30 miles from Portland in the Columbia River Gorge. The town was founded when the Bridal Veil Lumbering Company began building mills and logging the Larch Mountain area. The company later came to be known as the Bridal Veil Timber Company. Palmer was another town owned by the timber company atop a plateau. The timber was rough sawed at the mill at Palmer and then sent down a flume to Bridal Veil for remanufacture, drying, and shipment. |
