| Contextual Notes | The Benson Timber Company was incorporated in 1911, when S. Benson transferred his holdings in Columbia County to new owners Frank Lynch, O.J. Evenson, and E.E. Coovert. The company was located in Clatskanie, which began to experience a surge in business in the early twentieth century with the completion and opening of the Columbia and Nehalem Railroad in 1917. |
