| Contextual Notes | The Florence Logging Company was in business ca. 1910 to ca. 1923.
Silvana is a community six miles west of Arlington on the Stillaguamish River delta in northwest Snohomish County. Scandinavian influence was once strong there. In 1892, when a post office was established, the name used was Stillaguamish. The change to the present name was suggested by C. Jorgenson, who filed a plat for the townsite. It was for Silvanus, the god of forests and guardian deity of homesteads, flocks and herds in Roman mythology.
A cold deck is a stack of logs left in the woods for later transportation.
