| Notes | Illustrated with hand colored intaglio prints. The first half of the book is an alphabet book. Each page is devoted to a single letter and shows upper and lower case variations of the printed letter along with accompanying illustrations and a caption that is written in German, French, Italian, and Hungarian. The illustrations include animals and parts of the body, and depict tradesmen such as a potters, cobblers, doctors and gardeners. The second half of the book is a primer written in French and German. It includes vocabulary lists and short readings and is intended to assist German children in learning and understanding French. This page illustrates the letter "V". It stands for vampire (vampir, roufsette, spettro, denevér), square (viereck, quarré, quadrato, négyszeglet), fowler (vogelfänger, oiseleur, uccellatore, madarász), curtain (vorhang, rideau, cortina, kárpit), volcano (vulkan, vulcain, vulcano, tüzokádó), and padlock (vorsegeschloss, cadenas, luchetto, iakat). "Vampire" is depicted as a vampire bat. |
