This is a long scroll contained in a wooden container that has a crank handle. When the handle is turned, the alphabet scroll is unrolled.
The scroll has been unwound to show the letters A, B, and C. "A" stands for alligator that in this case is chasing a young black boy. "B" stands for black bear that is climbing a tree. "C" stands for pussy cat that has caught a mouse.
