A conduct of life guide for youth that covers topics such as cleanliness, drunkenness, table behavior, rules for conversation, and directing servants. Also included are biblical and historical lessons, excerpts from writings by "dramatic writers" and a section on elocution entitled "Elements of Gesture." This plate depicts a man portraying the correct posture and gestures when presenting a speech. A previous owner of the book has doodled on the face and hands. |
