Each letter of the alphabet illustrates a different scene from the British railway system.
"N is the News-boy, who cries 'Here you are! Punch, Times, Daily Telegraph, Standard, and Star.'" The illustration depicts a boy standing on the train platform and selling newspapers to the passengers.
"O are Officials, in uniform coats, with pencils, and paper on which they take notes." The illustration depicts a group of men standing on a train platform and inspecting a train.
"P is the Platform at Charing Cross staion, which has gained for the Builder a great reputation." The illustration depicts groups of people standing inside a train station.
"Q is the Queen, just come out of the train, and her carriage will take her to Windsor again." The illustration depicts Queen Victoria standing on a train platform while crowds of men behind her doff their hats.
Contextual NotesAunt Louisa was a pseudonym for Laura B. J. Valentine. Valentine was the general editor of Frederick Warne & Company's juvenile publishing department.
