Each Goop is named for a mischievous or naughty childhood trait. The Goops are listed alphabetically and each has a story and a short verse explaining their fault.
This page depicts Urapyg who, even though is always well groomed and neat, has horrid things to say and calls people names; once saying to his sister, "you're a pig!"
Contextual NotesFrank Gelett Burgess was an artist, art critic, poet, author, and humorist. He was born in Boston, and graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a B.S. in 1887. He is famous for writing the poem "The Purple Cow: Reflections on a Mythic Beast Who's Quite Remarkable, at Least." Burgess also wrote and illustrated several children's books about "The Goops" and created the syndicated comic strip "Goops" in 1924, working on it to its end in 1925.
