| Notes | Illustrated with hand colored wood engravings.< In this book, the alphabet describes the ball given by Aunt Affable that ends with a young zebra hauling the guests home in a cart. Publication date inferred from publisher's address and form of name. Special Collections copy is in publisher's pink printed pictorial wrappers; decoration on front wrapper displays a series of vignettes depicting several of the Aunt Affable titles listed in the publisher's advertisements on the lower wrapper; printing variant, includes 16 numbered pages; presentation inscription in ink above title, p. 3: "William Barnely, from his affectionate cousin, W. Henry Barnely". This page depicts "C" for "cake, " "D" for "dance, " "E" for "empress, " and "F" for "feather." |
