Contextual NotesLucy Aikin was interested in early childhood education and published several readers to assist in teaching. Lucy Aikin also worked under the pseudonym Mary Godolphin when she produced several works in the series "In the words of one syllable". She was the niece of Mrs (Anna Letitia) Barbauld who was also an author and an early critic of the education system.
