The first edition was printed in 1939 under the title "A children's picture dictionary." The back cover depicts a young boy reading with the headline "A dictionary can be fun!" There are also eight reasons given for why a child should own this dictionary. It "develops the dictionary 'habit' and the right attitude toward reference books." |
