Written in introduction:The plan of each Lesson and the arrangement of the whole Book are the result of long experience and very careful experiment.... Each vowel lesson is introduced by a picture and corresponding key-word. Below the key-word there are other words that rhyme with it. Each of these words are presented to the eye of the child in two forms - as a whole, and with the letters separated - in order to show that the complete word is a combination of letters.
